What is moisture conditioning and why does it keep coming up?
It is bringing the fill to the moisture content the Proctor curve calls for before compacting it. Clay compacted too dry will take on water later and swell; compacted too wet it will not achieve density at all. Getting it right is cheap. Fixing it later is not.
How quickly do density results come back?
Nuclear gauge results are available in the field immediately, so a failing lift gets reworked the same day instead of being discovered a week later under three more lifts.
