Plumbing Project Manager — Edmond, OK
The Plumbing Project Manager runs our plumbing inspection and engineering-support scope on one or more construction projects: staffing inspectors and engineers, setting the inspection and test plan with the owner and the engineer of record, managing budget and schedule, reviewing the reports before they go out, and owning the client relationship. You know the plumbing trades well enough to catch a bad report and the business well enough to keep the project profitable.
This is a project-site position supporting programs in and around Edmond, Oklahoma, staffed through the Dallas, TX regional hub on a project basis with travel as assigned.
A Edmond route runs through red-bed expansive clays, shale bedrock, and wind-hardened schedules, with variety that builds a career, not a resume.
What you'll do
- Develop the plumbing inspection and test plan with the client and engineer of record; staff it with qualified inspectors and engineers
- Own budget, schedule, change management, and invoicing for the scope; forecast monthly
- Review inspection and observation reports for technical accuracy and completeness before issue
- Lead client meetings, resolve escalated deficiencies, and coordinate with the general contractor's quality and scheduling teams
- Develop staff: certification plans, field coaching, and performance reviews for the inspectors and engineers on your projects
What we're looking for
- 8+ years in plumbing construction, inspection, or engineering, with 3+ years managing projects or quality programs
- Deep working knowledge of domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, medical gas, natural gas and fuel piping, backflow prevention, and fire-suppression supply and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) as adopted
- PE, PMP, or senior ICC/trade certification preferred
- Runs a budget, writes a change order, and holds a client meeting without a script
What a week in this job looks like
The week opens with the staffing board: which inspectors are on which projects, what the look-ahead schedules need, and where a shutdown or a tie-in will need night coverage. Then the numbers — hours against budget, invoices out, change orders that need writing. Midweek you are on a project walking with your inspector and meeting the owner's representative; Friday you review the week's reports before they go out and send the client the summary.
Escalations come to you: a deficiency the contractor disputes, an inspector who needs backing, a schedule that moved. You settle them with the data in the reports.
Pay, schedule, and travel
Pay runs $110,000 to $145,000 depending on certifications held, verified experience, and the program you are assigned to. Salaried, with a bonus tied to project margin and client retention on the projects you run.
Texas positions are dispatched from the Sugar Land headquarters; project-site positions elsewhere are staffed on a project basis with travel and per diem as assigned, and the listing for your city says which one it is.
Standards and quality
Your projects run to the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) as adopted, International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), NFPA 99 for medical gas, ASSE backflow standards, and the plumbing sections of the project specifications, under the company's documented quality system. You are the reviewing authority on every report your team issues.
